Universal Theories...

It started as a joke, but then we challenged him to do it for real...

...welcome the newest member of the blogging fraternity, Donnie Ross, with 'Uncle Donnie's Theory of Everything'.

To me its like the great mental ruminations of the stars, the kind of thoughts you get when you see a copy of Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time in the library or bookshop (I own a copy, but have never read it, obviously!), or think too much about how the Time Vortex and the TARDIS works in Dr Who (better known as how Russell T Davies managed to change the Whoniverse to suit himself!), Donnie's first post is all about observation, which would link into relativity (yes, Professor Einstein, I hear you!).

So, Uncle Donnie's Theory of Everything Part 1: Uncle Donnie's Theory Part One: we have the capacity to create expectations which configure our perceptions much more efficiently than we commonly notice.

And then what the dog was thinking... yes, a starring role for Coco, the gorgeous chocolate Labrador! Better known as Mental Modelling for Dogs (and humans!): 'So mental modelling, if you're still paying attention, is a key feature of human expertise, and the signs are that this may apply to dogs also. '

I love the use of the Doric word 'dwam' when Donnie refers to how the great thinkers and artists have experienced a 'Brown Study'!

we love Coco the Dog!

I thought of doing my own smaller occasional posting of mental rumblings, and it will be entitled 'Dads' Theories of Living for Inquisitive Small Children' - mainly because of some of the stories I've heard from others about what their Dads told them when they were wee, like Pauline's story about the light in the airing cupboard!! Watch this space!

But I think there should be more room for universal theorising online, it's the place to do it! I love thinking big, global, universal! Like why does it take so long to get to other planets? What is the point of wasps? How does time work?

So, Donnie, I salute you, more deep thinking please!!
